The IOI 2021 logo is made up of two prominent icons of Singapore: the Merlion's head, and the Supertrees from Gardens by the Bay.

The Merlion is a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish. The animal's body symbolises Singapore's humble beginnings as a fishing village, while its head represents Singapore's original name: Singapura, or 'lion city' in Sanskrit. A statue of the Merlion can be found at the Merlion Park in Marina Bay.

The Supertrees meanwhile, are majestic, vertical gardens unveiled at Gardens by the Bay in 2012. They measure between 25 and 50 metres tall, and have several purposes: they provide shade during the day and offer visual and aural entertainment for park-goers at night with its light and sound display.

The Supertrees are located at the Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay. The Gardens is a national garden and horticultural attraction for local and international visitors, featuring amazing architecture and a wide array of plants and floral displays.
